History
A Rich Heritage of Catholic Education Since 1876
St Nicholas Tamworth is one of 24 schools administered by Armidale Catholic Schools on behalf of the Bishop of Armidale.
St Nicholas School was originally founded as a Parish School in 1876 and was located near St Nicholas Church. The Parish School was located in White Street, Tamworth and was run by the Dominican Sisters. In 1929 Christian Brothers established an All Boys School in Carthage Street. Outgrowing the White Street site, St Nicholas Primary School, moved from White Street to Carthage Street in 1981 and returned to co-education.
Investing in the Future, Honouring the Past
In 2012 as part of the Building Education Revolution Program (BER) 6 classrooms were built to house Infants students.
In 2017 a major upgrade was made to the school to modernise St Nicholas Primary School into a contemporary site for 21st Century learning.
St Nicholas Primary School continues the traditions in Catholic education of the Dominican Sisters and Christian Brothers.
