A Platform for Success
St Nicholas Primary School believes it is essential for students to have a successful transition to school. As part of creating this supportive transition environment, we have a fourth Kindergarten teacher. This teacher supports the Kindergarten team through the running of learning leaps, targeting the students’ learning at their required level of support or extension. Oral language is seen as a vital skill for all our students, and this is another area that the fourth Kindergarten teacher supports. “Language Lift”, a research based oral language program, is also run for identified students, building on the premise that “If they can’t say it, they can’t write it.”
Multi-Tiered System of Support
As part of our “Living Well, Learning Well” Framework, St Nicholas ensures we have a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). This promotes academic, wellbeing and behaviour domains as interconnected and equally deserving of quality assessment, planning and intervention. Our staff members have a universal and unconditional positive high regard for students and look to support students to feel safe, valued, respected and cared for, and engaging learners.
