Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the St Nicholas Primary School website.

For those parents who are experiencing for the first time their child going to school, or the possibility of relocating to the Tamworth region or perhaps a change of schooling in Tamworth, this is both a time of enormous excitement and nervous trepidation.

St Nicholas School is a Catholic Parish school of approximately 600 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 6. The School was established in 1876 and has a long tradition of academic, sporting and cultural activities. Music, Choir, Dance and Debating have always been an enjoyable part of our curriculum. Information Technology is an essential part of the curriculum, and we also provide a multicultural focus through curriculum units and visiting educators.

St Nicholas School cares for the individual. Staff, parents and children all work together to ensure each child is respected and accepted as a happy individual.

“I dream I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher, the tools she used
Were books and music and art.
The other was a parent with a guiding hand
And a gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done
They were proud of what they’d wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or brought.

And each agreed they would have failed
If they had worked alone. For behind the parent, stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.”

Become as involved as much as possible in your child’s education and the life of the school, as there is much joy to come.
